Mission/Purpose

The purpose of SHRM is to stimulate interest in the field of Human Resources by inviting HR professionals to speak about different aspects of their job and other HR issues. SHRM was created to provide assistance for development of its members, to provide leadership opportunities, and establish and support standards of excellence in Human Resource Management.

Goals:
The specific goals for SHRM are to:

Create general public awareness of the Human Resource Management field
Create a better understanding of its function and importance
Hold field trips each semester to help students better understand Human Resource responsibilities
Have at lease two guest speakers (HR related) per semester
Provide opportunities to meet HR professionals for future opportunities (including but not exclusive to internships, co-ops, and jobs) - SW Human Resources Conference and Exposition
Increase membership (both in local and national chapter)
Provide a mentor program with our sponsoring professional chapter
