Preamble

Interaction is a business Student
Organization that was established in the
Fall 2000 at Texas A&M University for the
purposes stated in this constitution.
Article II. Name
The name of this
organization shall be AGGIE GLOBAL INTERACTION (AGI).
Article III.
Purpose and Goals
Section I.
Purpose
Aggie Global Interaction is an international
business organization devoted to building a global
network of lasting relationships among Aggies and
exchange students by:

Creating
international business and study opportunities

Enhancing
international awareness
-
Engaging in
social and professional events
Section II.
Goals
The major goals shall be to promote Mays Business
School and Texas A&M University by marketing the
amenities it has to
offer, and to enhance the exchange process among all
Aggies and international business exchange students.
Article IV. Membership
Section I.
Selection Process
This is a volunteer service organization for Texas
A&M University students interested in international
business involvement.
Section II. Active Members
Active Membership is granted to anyone who has paid
his or her dues in the amount of $20 per semester or
$30 per year. Active members can attend all events.
Section III. International Membership
International exchange students of Mays Business
School are welcome to participate in activities and
interact with Aggie Global Interaction members.
Section IV. Voting Rights
Voting rights are given to active members who have
participated in 2/3 of regular scheduled meetings
and 50% of formal social events in the semester
prior to elections.
Section V. Attendance
Attendance at all meetings and organization events
is not mandatory, but encouraged.
Article V.
Officers
Section I.
Requirements
The officers of this organization must meet the
following requirements:

Have a
minimum grade point ratio (GPR) as stated below
and meet that minimum GPR in the semester
immediately prior to the election/appointment,
the semester of election/appointment and
semesters during the term of office.

For
undergraduate students, the minimum GPR is
2.25. In order for this provision to be met,
at least six hours (half-time credits) must
have been taken for the semester under
consideration. In one limited circumstance,
summer semester hours may be applied to this
provision. In order for summer coursework to
qualify toward a grade point ratio prior to
election/appointment, at least six credit
hours must have been taken during the course
of either the full or two summer session(s).

For
graduate level students the minimum GPR is a
3.00. In order for this provision to be met,
at least four hours (half-time credits) must
have been taken for the semester under
consideration. In one limited circumstance,
summer semester hours may be applied to this
provision. In order for summer coursework to
qualify toward a grade point ratio prior to
election/appointment, at least four credit
hours must have been taken during the course
of either the full or two summer session(s)
unless fewer credits are required as they
complete the final stages of their degree.

Be in good
standing with the university and enrolled:
-
At least
half time (six or more credit hours), if an
undergraduate student (unless fewer credits
are required to graduate in the spring and
fall semesters) during the term of office,
and
-
At least
half time (four or more credits), if a
graduate level student (unless fewer credits
are required in the final stages of their
degree as defined by the Continuous
Registration Requirement) during their term
of office.

Be enrolled
in Mays Business School OR have a declared BUAD
minor.

Be able to
serve a full year term.
-
Must be able
to serve a full year term.

An exception
will be made when filling the International
representative position that is to be filled by
an international exchange student.
Section II.
Officers and Duties
President:
shall preside over regular and executive
meetings, coordinate group activities, and
communicate with the officers and advisors on
all matters.
Vice President of Internal Affairs: shall
assist president and preside over meetings in
the absence of the president. Responsible for
the organization of the general meetings
including agenda, meeting location, and program.
Vice President of External Affairs: shall
work with CIBS and other Texas A&M organizations
interested in promoting international awareness.
Responsible for coordinating any major
international awareness events such as an
international business symposium or
international student career fair. Additionally,
in charge of recruiting efforts at the beginning
of the semester to expand AGI's American student
base.
Vice President of Foreign Relations:
shall be specifically responsible for the
international students. Coordinating the welcome
e-mail, welcome baskets, and international
partners are among the responsibilities.
Additionally, will act as the point of contact
for advisors to pass along incoming students'
contact information and arrival details.
Vice President of Events: shall
coordinate social events. Responsible for risk
management issues, logistics and other planning
details.
Secretary: shall record minutes at all
business meetings and grant active membership by
checking attendance at functions, receiving and
reviewing excuses for absences. Shall handle the
election process including officer applications
and the organization of the election.
Responsible for the maintenance of the
organization listserv. Additionally, shall work
with the webmaster to make sure the website is
in synch with any records collected.
Additionally, the secretary shall appoint a
historian who is in charge of taking pictures at
events, of scrapbooks, and of updating the
organization tri-fold and Wehner hallway
display.
Treasurer: shall manage all financial
aspects of the organization, including
donations, sales, fundraisers and collection of
dues.
Webmaster: shall ensure the functionality
of the AGI website and post updates and changes
as requested by other officers.
International Representative: shall
ensure communication between international
business exchange students and other Aggie
Global Interaction members. Shall attend BSC
meetings as an honorary international member. To
be appointed by the officer team from the pool
of business exchange students planning to stay
through the fall and spring semesters.
BSC representative: Any officer can
represent Aggie Global Interaction at the
Business Student Council. The representative
shall be elected at the regular elections and
shall fulfill the requirements and duties of an
organizational member as stated in the Council's
constitution.
Section III.
Election Process
Elections shall be held at the second-to-last
regular meeting of the Spring semester. An advisor
must be present and a simple majority vote will win.
In the event of a tie, the presiding officers will
take part in the election process. Officers running
for a position MUST be present at the election or
cannot be elected.
Section IV. Disciplining and/or Removing an
Officer
Any officer failing to attend at least 3/4 of all
meetings and events in any given semester OR who is
not performing his duties will be removed from
office. Any officer not meeting minimum attendance
requirements or who is not performing their
respective duties will be given a written warning
and an opportunity to respond to the warning and
explain their situation. The officer team will
review the situation. An advisor and a
2/3-membership vote must be obtained to remove an
individual. An election will be held immediately to
fill any officer vacancy.
Section V. Disciplining and/or Removing a Member
Any member who falls below compliance with
University requirements for membership, OR who is
determined as having been disruptive to activities
or events associated with Aggie Global Interaction
will be given a written warning and an opportunity
to respond to the warning and explain their
situation. The officer team will then review the
situation. An advisor and 2/3 officer-team vote must
be obtained to terminate an individual's membership.
Section VI. Resignation of an Officer
Any officer unable to perform his duty will resign
from his position and inform the executive members
at an officer meeting. An election will be held
immediately to fill the officer vacancy.
Article VI.
Meetings
Section I.
Meeting Schedule
Regular meetings shall be held every other Wednesday
of the month at 8:30 P.M. in the Wehner Building.
Section II. Quorum
This organization will conduct business in the event
that the majority of active members are present.
Article VII.
Finances
Section I.
Financial Transactions
All monies belonging to this organization shall be
deposited and disbursed through a bank account
established for this organization at the Student
Organization Finance Center and/or Fiscal Office.
All funds must be deposited within 24 hours after
collection. The advisor to this organization must
approve and sign each expenditure reimbursement
request before payment.
Section II. Dissolution of organization
In the event that the organization is dissolved, all
funds shall be donated to the Business Student
Council.
Article VIII.
Advisor
AGI members and
officers shall be served by an advisor, selected by
mutual agreement between the administration of Mays
Business School and AGI officers. The advisor must
be a member of the faculty or staff of the school,
employed at least half time.
Article IX.
Amendments & Revisions
Section I.
Amendments
This constitution may be amended at any time by a
two-thirds vote of the voting membership, subject to
the approval of the Department of Student
Activities.
Section II. Revisions
This constitution will be reviewed annually and will
be subject to the approval of the Department of
Student Activities.
