I am 30 years old. I have a degree in Electronic Engineering and I am about to finish an MBA at the ITAM. I have a good background in Information Technologies and Telecommunications; however, my current interests are the arts and physicology. I work for Telmex, which is a major carrier in Mexico. Before that I worked for Posadas de Mexico, a hotel industry leader, and Sanborns, a retail store. In both companies I was working in the IT department. Although I have lived most of my life in Mexico, I also spent one year working for NYNEX in New York City and another year in Dallas working for an IT firm. I am fluent in English as well as Spanish and I am looking forward to learning some French. My main interest in NAFTA is the Telecommunications Regulations and the way they may affect investment in this sector in Mexico.
I am Mexican, I was born in Mexico City . I am single with three children, Christian 18, Estrella 14 and Lara 7. I am Biologist, I got my degree at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where I also got a Master degree in Cell Biology. During ten years I worked in Cardiovascular Research at the Instituto Nacional de Cardiologia in México City.
I also worked in Cancer Research for two years at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerología. In both places I worked in the tissue culture area, it was very interesting and I enjoyed it a lot, until 1993 When I change to the commercial area, so I started to work as Technical Counselor in the Coagulation Business Unit in the Diagnostics Division of Boehringer Mannheim, a Pharmaceutical company. There I started to have close contact with Clinical Labs and due to my job, I had to share the technical knowledge with marketing skills, so in 1995 I decided to take a Post degree course in Marketing at the ITAM.
My latest position in Boehringer Mannheim was Coagulation Product Manager. In 1996, I started working for Chiron Diagnostics former Ciba Corning, there I developed my work in marketing, I have been in charge of the Immuno Business Unit and I was promoted to the Marketing Manager position. Chiron was acquired recently by Bayer Corp. At the moment we are living the slating process. I expect to continuing working in this area.
I have enjoyed my job so much, that I decided to take a second master degree, so I started in 97 to study the Master in International Direction at the ITAM.
My main interest is to develop skills in International Management because I would like to be consultant in International matters.

I am in my final semester of the MBA program. At ITAM I am taking a course on leadership (Liderazgo) and the NAFTA (Tratado de libre comercio). As well, I am finishing my MBA research paper that is looking at the success factors for Canadian firms in the Mexican market. The success factors are been examined from both the perspectives of the Canadian firms and their Mexican "partners". Background I have a B.A. from Queens University in Canada (English & French), an education degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a M.S.W. from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. To date I have had three professional careers: education, social work and human resources. Most recently I was Director of Human Resources for a large Montreal social agency (1100 employees). I have had a great deal of senior management experience in the public sector with a focus on organizational change and development. I am now on my fourth career. A year and a half ago I began my own small business, North-South Connexions, as a broker for Spanish immersion programs in Mexico, Central & South America and Spain. The MBA is a complement to my other education and experience. Why NAFTA?NAFTA is an extremely important part of our American experience- I use American in its broadest sense! I look forward to learning the details of the agreement, but even more learning the various perspectives on the agreement. Specifically I hope to do consulting work between Canada and Mexico and thus want to learn about NAFTA from the point of view of each partner. Me gusta mucho estudiar el TLC en español en el ITAM. También el intercambio con los estudiantes de Texas A & M va a ser una experiencia muy rica. Life outside? I am a wife, step-mother, and step-grandmother who loves her family, loves to travel and loves to learn new languages and cultures. Hablo inglés, francés y español. En el pasado estudié italiano y aleman pero no puedo hablarlos ahora. As well, I am trying to keep my body in good shape in Mexico Citys high altitude and pollution by working out and walking! On the weekends I try to go to Cuernavaca to enjoy "la primavera eterna".
I was born on October 5th 1976 in Mexico city. I am 22 years old. I have lived in Mexico City all my live. I am single. I studied the high school at the UNAM. At this time I am studying the Bachelor in International Relations at the ITAM. I am in the 7th semester. I chose International Relations because it is an interdisciplinary career. I speak English and French and I would like to learn german. I have collaborated in the Students Association of the University, and in a Social group named Alcance Universidad sin Límites which tries to improve children quality of life through educational programs and their families with limited means. I want to specialize in International Law. At this time I do not work, but I would like to work as an international annalist. I am in the course of NAFTA because it is important to have a special knowledge in this subject in order to understand the global tendencies toward globalization. Besides, NAFTA has become an essential tool to understand Mexican Foreign policy. My hobbies are travelling, windsurfing and reading and I practice swimming and aereobics.
I was born in Mexico City and I am 24 years old. I studied the primary, secondary and high school programs in bilingual catholic schools. I graduated with honor in high school after writing a paper about Pearl S. Bucks Pulitzer Prize, The Good Earth, and performing a presentation about the Chinese History and Culture. At the same time I was also being trained as Bilingual Secretary. Therefore, I worked as bilingual secretary during the summers, but after high school I started working full-time at a subsidiary of Lockwood Greene Engineers at World Trade Center in Mexico City in order to afford in the future the tuition of a private college. There, I was promoted to Proposal Manager Jr. preparing proposals to companies like Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola Company, Bayer, Greenwood Mills, GATX, Mission Foods, Pfizer, among others. In the meantime I studied Mathematics, History and Philosophy at La Salle University. A year had passed when I could become a student at Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, ITAMIt took me too much time and many negotiations at office and college- in order to study and work at the same time. Currently I am studying International Relations at ITAM to get a bachelor degree. I am specializing in international business trade and finance- thus, I constantly assist to conferences and seminars regarding these matters. I had taken courses about Mexican customs house legislation and NAFTA´s impact on it. The Chicago Board of Trade about futures and forward contracts gave me the last seminar I had assisted to. I am also learning German. This is my last year at ITAM and I am writing a thesis about Mexican and South Korean banking crises on the basis of political economy. I have also been writing articles about poverty and neo-liberalism in Latin America; military affairs in North American countries relation; emerging markets political transition; Iraq and US relations, a new currency for Mexico; among others that I planned to publish in a Mexican business magazine. I would like to work in an International enterprise analyzing financial markets as I had also experience researching the subjects related to them in other jobs I have had.
I was born December 27th, 1973, in Monterrey, Nuevo León; in the northern part of Mexico. I was raised, however, and have lived most of my life in the outskirts of Mexico City. I went to a British school from Kindergarden through high school, so I became used to studying in English and decided to continue my education in the States, at the University of Pennsylvania. I graduated from Wharton in 1995, with a B.S.E. in Multinational Management. I got a job in a Market Research firm in Philadelphia, where I remained for another year, conducting in-depth interviews, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data from these interviews and writing reports on the findings. At the end of 1996 I returned to Mexico, but I have kept on working with the same company on a project by project basis. They conduct many studies in Latin America, primarily in Mexico, and I take care of business from here; also, I get to travel when it is needed. I started studying the MBA in ITAM in April 1998, to make the most of the time when I am not working, and Im hoping to finish by July 2000. I like to travel a lot; I went on an exchange program for a semester to Lyon, France, when I was a sophomore at Penn, and, as I mentioned before, it is part of my job to travel, mostly to South America. We are planning on setting up an office here in Mexico in the near future, so I am hoping to have a full-time job soon; but in the meantime I want to learn German and get my MBA.
Born 22 years ago in Lille, France. After 2 years at the university of Lille, France, I took the opportunity to study one year at the Wterford Institute of Technology, Ireland. I didi a diploma of buisness studies. This enabled me to get in the Amsterdam School of Buisness, Holland, where my major is International Management. I am currently enjoying an exchange programm at the ITAM of Mexico city. In Europe, we of course learn a lot about the European Union, but unfortunately, not very much about the NAFTA treaty. Will Mexico beneficiate from the NAFTA as much as, for example, Ireland did from the EU? What efforts have been made? What efforts are to be made? Answer those questions would be one of my goals for this course. Hobby, interests: Acting and travelling. Sports : Windsurfing, snowboarding.
I come from the Midlands of England and have lived in Mexico for two and a half years. I am coming to the end of my sixth term at ITAM. My academic background is in economics and most of my professional experience has been in the British Civil Service. I have chosen the NAFTA course because of my interest in the Mexican economy and in view of the increasing importance of regional trading blocks in the Americas and beyond. My hobbies include the following-cricket (circumstances permitting), field hockey, tennis, skiing and to a lesser extent sailing and chess. Interested in history and politics, particularly of countries I have lived (mainly Brazil, Germany, Mexico and the Middle East). Fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and German, as well as some French. I have very much enjoyed travelling around Mexico!
Greetings. My name is Elizabeth. Im one of two Canadians in the TLC course at ITAM. I live in the city of Edmonton in a province called Alberta which has a somewhat similar economic base to both Texas and Mexico a large share of provincial GDP and government revenues are based on the energy sector.
I am completing a Master of Business Administration (concentrating in international business and finance) at the University of Alberta and hope to graduate in April. My previous academic training is in economics, geography and urban planning. Prior to returning to school in 1997, I worked as a market analyst for the federal governments housing agency, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. In December of last year I was one course short of completing my degree. I decided that it would be more fun to come to Mexico than look for a job ... so here I am.
I am taking one course at ITAM, intensive Spanish at the UNAM (yes, I came to Mexico without knowing Spanish!!) and completing an International Business project that is required for my degree. Im also supposed to be studying for the Canadian Securities Course exam which I have to write when I return to Canada (so far no progress on this front!!). I registered in the NAFTA course because Ive decided to do my IB project on some aspect of the agreement. I still havent finalized my project, but I want to look at an area where Canada is increasing its trade with Mexico as a result of the NAFTA.
So, thats my life for the next few months. Looking forward to some interesting class discussions with all of you.
